How we verify
Every factual claim on VegasFans.com links to a numbered source, and every page shows when we last checked it. Each item gets one of four labels: Confirmed, Hearing, Changed or Cancelled. If we can't source something, we leave it out.
Last checked Oct. 8, 2026
What do the four labels mean?
- Confirmed
- An official source (team, league, venue, promoter) has published it, or two independent reliable outlets agree on it. Dates and times are copied from the official schedule.
- Hearing
- Reported by a credible outlet but not yet official. Example: NBA expansion bid details. We always name who is reporting it.
- Changed
- Something we previously listed has moved: a new time, venue or cost. We keep the old value in the changes log.
- Cancelled
- Officially called off. We keep the item visible, struck through, for a week.
What are the rules?
- No source, no publish. Each fact links to a numbered footnote. The build fails if a page, game or timeline entry is missing its sources or dates.
- Quotes are copied word for word from the source we link to.
- Times are Pacific Time and come from the official schedule. Games marked "if necessary" or "TBA" say so.
- History entries are checked against cached source text. Before publishing, an automated check confirms that a key phrase from each timeline entry appears in its source.
- "Where fans watch" listings are verified in person or by the venue. Until then the page says verification in progress.
- Corrections are public. See the changes log.
Frequently asked questions
What sources do you use?
In order of preference: the teams, leagues and venues themselves (official schedules, league data, press releases); established news outlets such as the Las Vegas Review-Journal; and Wikipedia for settled history, which we check against the article's own citations where it matters.
What does 'Last checked' mean?
It's the date someone re-checked that page's facts against its sources. Anything older than 60 days goes into our monthly re-verification queue.
How do I report an error?
Tell us on the contact page. Fixes go into the public changes log with the date.
