How did Formula One end up on the Strip twice?
The first time was in a parking lot. In 1981 and 1982, Caesars Palace laid out a temporary circuit in its parking lot. Both races closed the season [9][2]. Alan Jones won in 1981 and Michele Alboreto got his first F1 win in 1982 [2].
The second time was the real Strip. The modern Las Vegas Grand Prix started on Nov. 18, 2023: a Saturday-night street race down Las Vegas Boulevard, the first Vegas F1 race since 1982 [7]. In 2024 it became the third Vegas race where the drivers' title was decided, after 1981 and 1982 [3].
