How did the Raiders end up in Las Vegas?

After years of failed efforts to renovate or replace the Oakland Coliseum, NFL owners voted 31–1 on March 27, 2017 to let the Raiders move [1]. The team played its first Las Vegas season in 2020, in Allegiant Stadium [2]. That first season was played without fans at home games because of the COVID-19 pandemic [2].

What has Allegiant Stadium brought to town besides the Raiders?

A run of big events that Las Vegas had never hosted before: the 2022 NFL Draft [7], the Pro Bowl Games [8], Super Bowl LVIII in 2024 [9], and a stadium boxing record when 70,482 fans watched Canelo Álvarez vs. Terence Crawford in 2025 [3]. It is also UNLV football's home field [10].
